Faculty Research
Gerald
L. Andriole, Jr., M.D. – Studies include:
Paul
F. Austin, M.D. – The physiological effects of bladder outlet obstruction,
which can lead to negative health consequences including, ultimately, renal
failure.
Jeffrey
M. Arbeit, M.D. – Research determining the molecular control of epithelial
and prostate carcinogenesis.
Sam
Bhayani, M.D. - Studying the prevention of prostate cancer in men who
are at high risk. Dr. Bhayani also is involved in a trial studying the effects
of a drug on hot flashes in men on hormonal therapy.
Arnold
D. Bullock, M.D. – Conducting trials in men’s health with relation
to the prostate. Dr. Bullock has a large trial targeting the prevention
of prostate cancer. Other trials include urgency and frequency symptoms
in men and prevention of bone fractures in men on hormonal therapy.
Adam
S. Kibel, M.D. (Genitourinary Oncology Laboratory) – The genetics
of urologic malignancies, specifically prostate cancer.
Carl
G. Klutke, M.D. – Treating and studying varied aspects of urinary incontinence
with surgery, medication and behavioral intervention. Presently conducting
eight trials in these different treatments.
Steven
J. Weintraub, M.D. – Basic aspects of apoptosis and cell cycle control
in the context of complex biological phenomena, including mechanistic studies
of (1) the response of urologic and other malignancies to antineoplastic
agents and (2) the bladder smooth muscle hyperplastic response that occurs
when there is a bladder outlet obstruction.
Ramakrishna
Venkatesh, M.D. – Ureteral physiology studies using minimally invasive
technology; stone, endourologic and laparoscopic research studies.
