Third-Year Urology Clerkships
The Division of Urology is eager
and excited to have third-year medical students rotate on our service. We
have a very busy operative and outpatient clinic. The clerkship rotation
is typically for three weeks. Medical students are expected to make rounds
with the residents in the morning and evening. During the day, the students
will either scrub in the OR to learn surgical principles or shadow an attending
in the clinic to learn the principles of urologic outpatient care. Medical
students' schedules can be flexible and adjusted according to their subspecialty
interest. All students are expected to attend urology teaching conferences
that meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings and Tuesday evening.
All students are expected to read
the handouts and watch the videos that accompany the "National Urology
Medical Student Curriculum." The National Medical Student Core Curriculum
is a web based course that is available on the American
Urological Association website.
